Hispanic Arts, Heritage Day

A Hispanic Arts and Heritage Day for Education will be held during the Farmers’ Market in downtown Kankakee from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 15.

In spite of threatening skies, Saturday evening turned out to be a beautiful night to enjoy Taste of Ashkum. The food selections were well received by a hungry crowd. Kids enjoyed their games and staying out after dark to dance the night away.

Sparenberg Family Has June 24th Reunion

The 60th annual Sparenberg reunion was held Sunday, June 24, at the Danforth Community Building. There were 24 family members present.

Ashkum Methodists Plan Children’s Fair

The Ashkum United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Children’s Fair for all area children, ages 2 through 8, on the Ashkum church’s lawn on Wednesday, July 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. (Rain date is July 19) The event is free.
